Browser window mockups

Mockya's browser frames put a screen recording of your website inside a Safari or Chrome window, in light or dark, with the real toolbar: tabs, navigation buttons and the address bar. The page area is 1,600 × 948, close to 16:10. Export it as MP4, WebM, GIF or PNG in 16:9, 2:1 and 1:1, with no watermark.

How do I record a website for a browser frame?

  1. 1

Open your site in a clean window: no bookmarks bar, no extensions showing, and the zoom at 100% or a little above.

  2. 2

Record just the page, not the browser's own toolbar. The frame draws its own title bar and address field.

  3. 3

On a Mac, Shift-Command-5 and Record Selected Portion does it; on Windows, the Snipping Tool's record mode does the same.

The frame's page area is 1600 × 952, close to 16:10. A recording of that shape fills it exactly; a 16:9 one loses a sliver at the sides.

Safari, Safari, dark, Google Chrome and Google Chrome, dark. Both are available in the studio, free to edit and preview.

What size should I record for a browser window mockup?

Record at the screen's native resolution, or any size with the same shape. Safari: 1,600 × 948 (16:9.5); Safari, dark: 1,600 × 948 (16:9.5); Google Chrome: 1,600 × 950 (16:9.5); Google Chrome, dark: 1,600 × 950 (16:9.5). A different shape still works: Mockya fills the screen and trims the overflow evenly, or fits the whole clip with bars.

Which canvas sizes suit a browser window mockup?

16:9, 2:1 and 1:1 work best, and every export can add the other canvases too. Each canvas is composed for its own frame rather than cropped from the first.
